WHAT ARE HYDRAULIC ELEVATORS?
These elevators are powered by a piston that travels inside the cylinder and is fitted with a high-power electric motor. The role of this electric motor is to pump the hydraulic oil into the cylinder that pushes the piston, and this piston powers the elevator cab and moves it up and down. They are ideal for buildings up to 5 or 6 floors, and they can also be used for buildings up to 8 floors high. They operate at a speed of 200 feet per minute, and there is no sizable overhead hoisting machinery.

WHAT ARE HOLED HYDRAULIC ELEVATORS?

ROPED HYDRAULIC LIFTS
Roped hydraulic elevators are also called indirect lifts, and they extend the rise of holeless elevators to 18 meters or 60 feet. There is no need for a below-ground cylinder, and these roped hydraulic elevators come with a piston attached to the sheave that has a rope passing through. One end of this rope is attached to the cab, while the next end is connected securely at the bottom of the hoistway. These systems require a governor as the risk of cab free-fall is always there.

MACHINE ROOMLESS OR MRL ELEVATORS

The control room has control boxes on the highest landing, adjacent to the elevator shaft. The maintenance cost is elevated compared to geared traction elevators, but an impressive feature is that they have much lower energy consumption. WHAT ARE PNEUMATIC ELEVATORS?
Pneumatic elevators are also called vacuum elevators, and they work with the help of an airtight seal built on the top of the cab. These pneumatic elevators have a shaft acting as a cylinder using hidden turbines on the top of the hoistway. These electric turbines remove the air from the hoistway to make it move upwards. Clearing the air means creating a vacuum, and the suction generated during this process is powerful enough to move the entire cab up. Automatically functioning valves simply return the air into the hoistway in a controlled manner to bring the cab down.
