Amphetamines are highly abused, and prolonged use can lead to dependence. Amphetamine abuse can cause severe cardiovascular reactions and sudden death.

Oral route

CNS stimulants, including dextroamphetamine/amphetamine extended-release capsules, other amphetamine-containing products, and methylphenidate, have a high potential for abuse and dependence. Assess the abuse risk before prescribing, and monitor for signs and symptoms of addiction and abuse while on therapy.

 

Adderall side effects can be severe.

Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine can also cause unwanted side effects. These side effects are not guaranteed to occur. However, they can be severe and require medical attention.

Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any side effects listed below while taking dextroamphetamine or amphetamine.

More common

• Bladder pain
• Bloody or cloudy urine
• Urination that is painful, difficult or burning
• Fast, pounding or irregular pulse or heartbeat
• Urination is frequent
• Lower back or side pain

Less common

• Chills

• Feelings of general discomfort or illness
• headache
• hoarseness
• Joint Pain
• Loss of appetite
• Muscle aches and Pains
• nausea
• Runny nose
• Shivering
• Sore throat
• Sweating
• Trouble sleeping
• Unusual tiredness or weakness
• vomiting

 

Unknown incidence

• Blistering, peeling or loosening the skin
• Chest pain or discomfort
• Confusing words and phrases
• Dark urine
• Having difficulty breathing
• Having difficulty speaking
• Having difficulty swallowing
• dizziness
• Double vision
• faintness
• Inability to move arms, legs or facial muscles
• Inability to speak
• skin rash
• Large, hivelike swellings on the face, eyelids or lips, tongues, throats, legs, feet and genitals.
• Loss of bladder control
• Muscle cramps or stiffness
• jerking or spasm of the arms or legs
• Pain or discomfort in the neck, arms, jaw or back
• Red skin lesions with a centre that is often purple
• Red, irritated eye
• Seeing, hearing or feeling something that is not there
• seizures
• Slow speech
• Sores or ulcers in the Mouth or white spots on the lips
• Sudden loss of consciousness
• Swelling of the lower legs or feet
• Tightness in the chest
• Uncontrolled repetitive movements (tics).
• Uncontrolled vocal outbursts
• Unusual tiredness or weakness

Adderall side effects

Some side effects usually do not require medical attention. These side effects can disappear during treatment as your body gets used to the medicine. Your healthcare provider can also tell you how to reduce or prevent some of these side effects.

• Constipation
• Sexual intercourse is declining in interest
• False or unusual feelings of well-being
• Inability to maintain or have an erection
• Loss of sexual drive, ability or performance
• Twitching, twisting and uncontrolled repetitive movements on the face, lips, arms or legs, and the tongue.
